How it works from Stockport

1. Start your case — Complete the recovery assessment form with what’s happened and what the drive is doing. We review every case properly before replying — you’ll get the likely pricing tier and clear next steps, with no obligation.

2. Get your drive to us — Most Stockport customers use our UPS door-to-door collection: £14.95 from anywhere in the borough, tracked and signed for, arranged by us. Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed from your local Post Office works just as well. Prefer to hand it over in person? We’re at Tarran Industrial Estate in Moreton on the Wirral — about an hour’s drive — and drop-offs by appointment are always welcome. Pack the drive in a box with plenty of bubble wrap — not a padded envelope.

3. Approve, recover, return — We assess the drive, confirm a firm quote, and only proceed once you approve it. Recovered data is returned on new media — collect it in person or have it delivered by tracked courier. If we can’t recover meaningful data, there’s no recovery fee.

Where Stockport’s failed drives actually get recovered

When a drive fails in Stockport, the recovery work ends up in a specialist lab somewhere — usually without the customer ever knowing where. Ours is on the Wirral, about an hour away, and it’s where the work actually happens: everything from dropped external drives and unresponsive SSDs to failed multi-disk RAID and NAS systems, for homes and businesses across the town centre, Edgeley, the Heatons, Reddish, Bredbury, Romiley, Marple, Hazel Grove, Offerton, Woodley, Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, Gatley and Bramhall. Plenty of that is business work — from the office quarter growing up around the station to the industrial estates at Bredbury and the firms spread along the M60 corridor, it’s the failed RAID arrays, NAS boxes and servers that carry the highest stakes. Computer shops and IT firms across Greater Manchester and Cheshire trust us with their own customers’ failed drives — as a Stockport customer, you deal with the lab directly, the same way Manchester customers do, and the same goes for neighbours in Wilmslow and Alderley Edge. See our dedicated pages for external hard drive recovery, NAS data recovery and RAID data recovery, or get in touch and we’ll identify what you’re dealing with.

Data recovery for Stockport — common questions

Can I bring my drive to the lab?

Yes — we’re at Tarran Industrial Estate in Moreton on the Wirral, about an hour’s drive from Stockport, and you’re welcome to drop off and collect in person by appointment. Start with the recovery assessment form and we’ll arrange a time that suits; that way the right engineer is expecting your drive and it goes straight onto the bench.

Do you collect in Stockport?

Yes — we can arrange UPS door-to-door collection from anywhere in Stockport for £14.95, tracked and signed for. Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed from your local Post Office works just as well if that’s easier. Pack the drive in a box with plenty of bubble wrap — not a padded envelope.

Why use a dedicated recovery lab?

Genuine recovery laboratories are rare — much of the “data recovery” offered regionally is forwarded on to a lab like ours anyway. Coming to Dragon directly means your device is handled by the engineers actually doing the work, at the lab itself, from first contact to the moment your data is returned.

My RAID or NAS has failed — can you handle multi-drive systems?

Yes — RAID and NAS recovery is a core specialism of the lab. Power the system down, leave it down, and start with the recovery assessment form; rebuilding or re-initialising a degraded array is the most common way data gets destroyed before it reaches us.

How long does data recovery take?

Every case moves through the same three stages: assessment, a firm quote for your approval, then the recovery itself. Straightforward cases are often completed within days of approval, while mechanical failures can take longer — particularly where matching donor parts have to be sourced. If your case is time-critical, say so on the recovery assessment form — urgent cases can be prioritised.

What does it cost?

Logical recoveries start from £350 and mechanical recoveries from £450, both including VAT. RAID, NAS and complex cases are quoted individually. You’ll always receive a firm quote for approval before any chargeable work begins — and if we can’t recover meaningful data, there’s no recovery fee.
