How it works from Alderley Edge
1. Start your case — Complete the recovery assessment form with what’s happened and what the drive is doing. We review every case properly before replying — you’ll get the likely pricing tier and clear next steps, with no obligation.
2. Get your drive to us — We can arrange UPS door-to-door collection from Alderley Edge for £14.95, tracked and signed for, or Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed from the Post Office works just as well. Many customers here prefer to hand the drive over in person — we’re at Tarran Industrial Estate in Moreton on the Wirral, about an hour’s drive, and you’re welcome to bring it to the lab by appointment and see where the work is done. Pack the drive in a box with plenty of bubble wrap — not a padded envelope.
3. Approve, recover, return — We assess the drive, confirm a firm quote, and only proceed once you approve it. Recovered data is returned on new media — collect it in person or have it delivered by tracked courier. If we can’t recover meaningful data, there’s no recovery fee.
Recovered properly — and handled discreetly
When a drive fails in Alderley Edge, the recovery work ends up in a specialist lab somewhere — and who actually handles it matters more here than most places. Plenty of people in the village and around Nether Alderley, Mottram St Andrew, Chelford and Prestbury run companies, practices and family affairs from home, and what’s on a failed drive is often commercially sensitive, legally privileged or intensely private. At our lab, discretion is the default rather than a promise: your device is handled by the engineer actually working on it, your data is never sent out to a third party, and nothing about your case is discussed with anyone but you. The work itself spans everything from dropped external drives and unresponsive SSDs to failed multi-disk RAID and NAS systems. We handle recoveries the same way for neighbours in Wilmslow, Knutsford and Macclesfield — and you deal with the lab directly from first contact to the day your data comes back. See our dedicated pages for external hard drive recovery, NAS data recovery and RAID data recovery, or get in touch and we’ll identify what you’re dealing with.
Data recovery for Alderley Edge — common questions
Can I bring my drive to the lab?
Yes — we’re at Tarran Industrial Estate in Moreton on the Wirral, about an hour’s drive from Alderley Edge, and you’re welcome to drop off and collect in person by appointment. Many customers prefer it — you see exactly where your drive will be, and it never leaves our hands. Start with the recovery assessment form and we’ll arrange a time that suits; that way the right engineer is expecting your drive and it goes straight onto the bench.
Do you collect in Alderley Edge?
Yes — we can arrange UPS door-to-door collection from Alderley Edge for £14.95, tracked and signed for. Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed from your local Post Office works just as well if that’s easier. Pack the drive in a box with plenty of bubble wrap — not a padded envelope.
Why use a dedicated recovery lab?
Genuine recovery laboratories are rare — much of the “data recovery” offered regionally is forwarded on to a lab like ours anyway. Coming to Dragon directly means your device is handled by the engineers actually doing the work, at the lab itself, from first contact to the moment your data is returned.
My RAID or NAS has failed — can you handle multi-drive systems?
Yes — RAID and NAS recovery is a core specialism of the lab. Power the system down, leave it down, and start with the recovery assessment form; rebuilding or re-initialising a degraded array is the most common way data gets destroyed before it reaches us.
How long does data recovery take?
Every case moves through the same three stages: assessment, a firm quote for your approval, then the recovery itself. Straightforward cases are often completed within days of approval, while mechanical failures can take longer — particularly where matching donor parts have to be sourced. If your case is time-critical, say so on the recovery assessment form — urgent cases can be prioritised.
What does it cost?
Logical recoveries start from £350 and mechanical recoveries from £450, both including VAT. RAID, NAS and complex cases are quoted individually. You’ll always receive a firm quote for approval before any chargeable work begins — and if we can’t recover meaningful data, there’s no recovery fee.
